An inspiring placement - Try Medics

An inspiring placement

Dec 8, 2016, Josefine West, Pre-midwifery

A Try Medics placement is a great opportunity to get to know yourself better while improving your CV. During my stay on Zanzibar I have learned a lot about the professional area that a midwife covers while at the same time encountering a new culture. These two experiences are combined incredibly well through our internship at the hospital. You get to meet all kinds of patients each representing the culture you are in. This can be overwhelming but at the same time very instructive.

Through my placement I have been confirmed that a career as a midwife is what i want to pursue. I have been given the opportunity to gain an insight into the theoretical part and observe some of the practical parts which has been an amazing experience. The hospital is a major part of the placement but it is also a very social stay as you get to meet many like-minded people. We were 18 participants in my team and it has been nice to get to know so many new people.

If you’re considering a Try Medics placement just do it! You will not regret it. You have my word.
