Full weekend. Drive from Galle to the mountain town of Ella (4-5 hours). Friday afternoon: optional hike to Ella Rock Summit or relax at the hotel. Saturday: sunrise hike to Little Adams Peak with sweeping views, then the iconic Nine Arch Bridge spotting the train through the jungle, evening for those who want it. Sunday: Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lankas second highest waterfall, short hike to natural pools with views. Included in the program price. Own costs 3 lunches, 2 dinners, optional zipline approx DKK 200, optional pool club approx DKK 120.
Full weekend. Total relaxation on Sri Lankas stunning south coast with surfer vibes and boho energy. Saturday: yoga and brunch at Hiriketiya, afternoon of beach, surf, cafe culture, and shopping, check-in at hotel. Sunday: Mirissa, Secret Beach, Turtle Bay, Coconut Hill, perfect for sun, sea turtles, and a magical sunset. Only spending money and some meals not included.
Half day. A guided introduction to the charming city you will call home. Visit Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and sea views. Learn the local history, discover the best places to eat and shop, and get your bearings so you feel at home quickly in Galle.
Afternoon. Group bonding games with staff and fellow participants followed by an outdoor BBQ at the house. A relaxed afternoon full of laughs and the start of lasting friendships. Most participants travel alone and Lanka Games is specifically designed to bring everyone together from day one.
Afternoon. One of the south coasts most popular beaches, a short drive from the house. Known for its calm atmosphere, golden sand, and crystal-clear water. Free transport provided. The perfect way to unwind between placement days.
Afternoon. Learn to make authentic Sri Lankan dishes including flavourful curry varieties and the popular street food kottu, a spiced stir-fried dish with vegetables and egg. Sri Lankan cuisine is heavily inspired by Indian cooking with bold spices. A social afternoon ending with eating together what you made, and recipes to take home.
1 hour. An introduction to Sinhala, the local language of Sri Lanka. Learn everyday words, hospital-useful phrases, and cultural context. Sri Lankas people are incredibly warm and even a few Sinhala greetings open doors and bring smiles.
Full day. A special day away from the regular hospital placement. Morning at the local nursing school for insight into Sri Lankas education system. Afternoon at a local care home where participants prepare a short performance to bring joy to the elderly, songs, dance, games, or creative activities. A day that broadens horizons and creates value in both directions.
Final Friday. A warm farewell evening in the garden celebrating four weeks of experience and friendship. Certificate presentation, BBQ with local and international dishes, group photo, and a few final group activities to close the program with a smile.
