the try medics model

From application to completion, we support every stage of your placement abroad.

Guidance before you leave

From enrolment onwards, our team guides you through every stage of your preparation. You receive access to a dedicated travel preparation page covering visas, vaccinations, packing, travel planning, arrival, and everything you need before departure.

Before departure, you will be invited to a private Facebook group with participants travelling during the same placement period. Here we share updates, answer questions, recommend flight routes, and encourage participants to travel together whenever possible.

Around one month before departure, you will be invited to a pre-departure webinar hosted by the coordinator who will welcome and support you throughout your placement. The session covers practical information, answers your questions, and prepares you for arrival.

Our team will meet you at the airport and transfer you safely to the Try Medics House. Settle in, meet your fellow participants, and take part in relaxed bonding activities designed to help everyone get to know one another.

Your first Monday is dedicated to orientation. Visit your placement site, meet your mentors, take part in introductory sessions, and get to know the city before your internship begins on Tuesday.

With accommodation, meals, transport, spare-time activities, and on-ground support all arranged, you can focus fully on learning, building friendships, and making the most of your placement experience.

Receive your Certificate of Completion together with relevant supporting documentation. Healthcare students may receive documentation for academic approval, while pre-university participants receive a recognised record of their experience.

Whether you return home or continue your travels, leave with lasting friendships, unforgettable memories, and a broader perspective that will continue to shape your future in healthcare.

Supported Throughout

Your Support Team

From the moment you arrive, our on-site team is there to support you throughout your placement, helping you get the most from the experience both academically and personally.

Your dedicated coordinator is present throughout your placement, providing day-to-day guidance, checking in regularly on your progress and wellbeing, answering questions, and helping turn your experiences into meaningful learning and reflection.

Supporting the coordinator is a wider on-site team of chefs, housekeeping staff, activity coordinators, and drivers, all working together to ensure you feel welcome, well looked after, and free to focus on your placement, new friendships, and overall experience.

Connectivity

During your first days, we can help you obtain a local SIM card and set up an affordable local data package if you wish. The SIM card and data package are optional and paid for directly by you.

With a local SIM card and data package, you can stay connected with fellow participants, family, and friends throughout your placement, even when away from the Wi-Fi at the Try Medics House.

More Than Clinical Experience

For over than a decade, we have refined our programmes to create a placement experience that is not only academically rewarding but also safe, well organised, and memorable.

Our permanent on-site team brings extensive local knowledge and experience, allowing us to anticipate challenges, make informed decisions, and provide guidance throughout your placement. This local presence strengthens both the quality and safety of the overall experience.

Beyond the hospital, we carefully plan the included spare-time activities to complement your placement. Rather than focusing only on sightseeing, they are designed to deepen your understanding of the destination, encourage cultural exchange, and create lasting memories with your fellow participants.

Meals During Your Stay

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided every weekday throughout your placement. Meals combine local and familiar dishes, allowing you to experience the cuisine of your destination while still enjoying familiar favourites.

Our experienced chefs can accommodate most dietary requirements and food allergies, including gluten and lactose intolerance. Vegetarian meals are well catered for, while vegan options may be more limited.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please contact us before applying so we can discuss the available options and align expectations.

TRY MEDICS HOUSES

Throughout your placement, you will live in the Try Medics House alongside your fellow participants.

Similar ages, a shared interest in healthcare, and living and learning together often create friendships that continue long after the placement has ended. It is therefore completely safe to join the programme on your own.

Our houses provide a comfortable and secure home base with shared bedrooms, Wi-Fi, spacious outdoor areas, and inviting communal spaces to relax and unwind after your hospital placement.

Whether you are spending time with fellow participants, relaxing in the garden, or enjoying some quiet time after a busy day, the Try Medics House is designed to feel like your second home.

Your Safety Is Our Priority

Participant safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. From carefully selecting our destinations to providing secure accommodation and program structure to continuously monitoring travel advisories and local developments, every aspect of our programmes is designed with your safety in mind.

The Try Medics Houses are protected by dedicated 24/7 security guards as an additional precaution.

If we believe a destination can no longer offer the level of safety we expect, we will postpone or cancel placements until conditions improve.
