From placement and activity coordinators to chefs, housekeeping staff, and drivers, every team member helps create the ideal conditions for you to focus fully on your learning, personal growth, and experiences.
From your first day, coordinators ensure a smooth introduction to both the hospital and your placement.

Your New Home Abroad

Try Medics House, Uganda

You and your fellow participants will stay in the Try Medics house in Entebbe throughout your placement. Exclusively for programme participants, the house is just a short drive from our partner hospitals and provides a comfortable and welcoming base during your stay.

Rooms are self-contained and feature bunk beds with mosquito nets, while spacious indoor and outdoor common areas provide plenty of space to relax.

Enjoy the large garden, volleyball court, TV lounge, WiFi, and a spacious rooftop terrace overlooking Lake Victoria.

Whether playing board games, working out, or watching the sunset over the lake, the house offers the perfect setting to unwind, reflect on the day's experiences, and spend time with fellow participants outside placement hours.

Safari to Murchison Falls
NATURE

Safari to Murchison Falls

A must in East Africa. Murchison Falls National Park is known for its incredible wildlife and the dramatic 43-metre waterfall. Spot giraffes, lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, antelopes, and crocodiles. Runs Friday morning to Sunday evening. All-inclusive: transport, meals, accommodation, guides, park entrance.

The Entebbe Botanical Garden, used as a filming location for the original Tarzan film in 1940. Guided tour with the park ranger, feed Colobus monkeys, and learn about exotic plant species, all with views over Lake Victoria.

Three-day adventure to Jinja and The Haven Uganda hotel. Friday: ATV safari along the Nile banks. Saturday: world-class river rafting, no prior experience needed. Sunday: horse riding along the Nile (max 85kg). All-inclusive: transport, 2 nights, ATV, rafting, horse riding, all meals. Most participants join.

Fitness

Yoga mats at the house, group runs with the activity coordinator, or nearby fitness centres with modern equipment a short drive away.

Cinema

Numax Cinema at Victoria Mall. Some evenings we organise group cinema trips with local staff.

Zipline and Treetop Adventure

Motorboat to a scenic island on Lake Victoria. Guided nature walk, treetop obstacle course at three difficulty levels, zipline through the treetops. Local lunch included.

Pool and Chill

Nearby resort partner with pool access on warm afternoons. Activity coordinator plans visits on the best weather days. Fitness centre also available on-site.
